Brass telegraph with wood base.
Height: 16.5 cm.

The telegraph is a device installed on the ship's command bridge with a copy in the engine room, which transmits the orders of the desired march grades. The pilot selects a position or march grade, which makes to sound an alarm on the engine room and the command bridge, which cease only when the engine room officer equals his telegraph position at same position, informing to either parts that the order was received and interpreted correctly.
Actually, the modern ship's propulsion plant is commanded directly from the command bridge but to respect the tradition the communication system between engines and bridge is denominated as well and maintains, in a more sophisticated form, the old telegraph system.
